The problem:
50% closed coils by lime scale deposits in a cooling tower in spite of costly chemical
dosages. Poor cooling, high compressor energy, and pollution.
Water hardness: 20 degree = 380 PPM
The solution:
Cooling tower: 1 1/2" conditioner on the supply water. Up-concentration of mineral salt automatically controlled by water conductivity measurement. Discontinued use of chemicals (only pure water treatment).
The results:
Within a few days solid deposits were dissolved and after 3 months fully removed from the coils. Economical advantages: all chemical cost saved, less compressor energy by better heat exchange, and a total pollution free treatment.
